'We Are From Here' is a community based
project run by the artist Firi Rahman and his team located in slave
island Colombo. The Process of this project is making murals by portraits of
some special personalities who became stars with sort of knowledge and talents
like sports art acting and some other achievements from the certain community.
So the reason of this effort is to brake the stereotypes of the outsiders
who have negative thoughts against to this community.
In the middle of
Colomboscope days i could visit the sites. From my view the project is
like an artistic activism. It was really interesting to see the portraits
through the little shaped frames. And the walk we had in the evening through
the narrow way to find out the murals was like 'hide and search' game.
